The Table of Plenty announced recently that it has elected Michelle Landry and Nicole McShane to its board of directors.
Michelle Landry is Director of Marketing and Communications for Frisbie Memorial Hospital, where she has been employed since 2005. In addition to The Table of Plenty, she is a member of the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce board of directors, and is past chair of the Greater Somersworth Chamber of Commerce board of directors. Ms. Landry has been actively involved in numerous public health initiatives including Strafford County Public Health Network’s first-ever Community Health Improvement Plan (2015-2017), in which she was the primary author. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in health communication from Granite State College, and earned a Master’s degree in public health from the University of New Hampshire. She resides in Cape Neddick, Maine.
Nicole McShane is Director of Development for Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire, where she has been employed since March 2015. Nicole has been working in non-profit development and fundraising for the past 14 years, which continues to fulfill her belief in serving great missions. Nicole has been involved with various boards, including the Northeast Harbor Sailing School Scholarship committee and the Northeast Harbor Library Storytelling committee on Mount Desert Island, Maine where she resided before moving to the Seacoast. More recently she has volunteered for the American Foundation Suicide Prevention Walk-Seacoast. Mrs. McShane received a Bachelors of Science degree in Sociology from University of Maine. Her passion for cooking, people and community was the draw to volunteer for The Table of Plenty. She resides in Kittery, Maine.
Current Board Members
Justin Roy serves as Chairman of the board. Justin has been involved with The Table of Plenty for the past twenty years. Prior to joining the board, Justin facilitated student volunteer activities between The Table of Plenty and Spaulding High School, where he is presently the assistant principal.
Steven Smith serves as Treasurer. He is a Small Business Lender for Kennebunk Savings Bank in York, and has been employed in the Financial Services industry since 2005. In addition to The Table of Plenty, he is a member of the South Berwick/Eliot Rotary Club, and is a past committee member of the Capital Campaign for 3S Artspace in Portsmouth. Mr. Smith attended Fisher College in Boston where he pursued a Computer Science degree and later attended Southern New Hampshire University. He currently resides with his daughter in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
Deidre Prescott serves as Secretary. Prior to retiring in 2003 from her position as Director of Budget and Finance for the Division of Developmental Services, Ms. Prescott’s had worked over 40 years in the government sector. In addition to The Table of Plenty, she serves on the board of the Active Retirement Association of NH where she is Director of Technology Services. Ms. Prescott is also a volunteer and advocate promoting pro-active policies that support women and families, including the Stand with Women Project. She is a proud Mom and Grandmom and resides in Dover, New Hampshire with best pal, 16-year old chiweenie, Jerry.
Cheryl Klausman is co-founder of The Table of Plenty; a vision shared with Rev. Kari Prichard and realized in 1994. Both Cheryl and Kari recognized in the area an unmet need where individuals could go to receive a free meal with no questions asked. Cheryl retired recently from MSAD 60 where she worked in an elementary school located in North Berwick, Maine, where she also resides.
Diana Marzinzik is a full time volunteer after concluding a career in event planning and catering. Presently, she volunteers her time between Great Bay Services, an organization that offers support to individuals with developmental disabilities and special needs, the ECHO Community Thrift Shop located at the Durham Community Church, which she founded and continues to help oversee, as well as The Table of Plenty, in which she is Site Coordinator in Kittery, Maine. Mrs. Marzinzik has been a Board member and Treasurer for the Gospel Music Project as well as a Board member for the Homeless Center of Strafford County. She received a degree in Hospitality Management from Endicott College. She resides in Eliot and summers in Cape Neddick, Maine.
Rev. Kari Prichard is an Ordained Interfaith Minister who, in addition to ceremonies of all types, offers Spiritual Care to those in need of guidance and is available to those in need of someone to listen. She works currently as a Chaplain at York Hospital. For over thirty-two years, Kari has owned and operated two businesses. She is an active member of Think Again, a local grassroots organization that had worked for nine years, alongside the Town of York, in opposition to the Maine Turnpike Authority's plan to relocate the York Toll Plaza. In 1991 Kari volunteered at the Friendly Kitchen in Dover, and then became the site assistant, at which time she learned soup kitchen operations. In 1993, Kari and Cheryl Klausman recognized an increase in the number of people in need of food assistance. Applying Friendly Kitchen’s operations model, they created The Table of Plenty, which opened its first community kitchen in Berwick, Maine in 1994. Kari began serving on The Table of Plenty’s Board of Directors and was Berwick’s Site Co-Director. In 2001, a second community kitchen opened in York. After a brief hiatus, she returned to York as Site Co-Director. Kari is a lifelong resident of York and has four children.
Leisa Smith is Lead Clinical Dietitian at York Hospital, where she has been employed forever. In addition to serving with The Table of Plenty for 15 years, Leisa was a nine year member of the York Hospital Board of Trustees, served as a co-chair of several committees of the Breast Cancer Living Well Fund annual fundraiser, co-managed the Kittery Playground Committee which successfully fundraised for and built two incredibly FUN playgrounds, and coordinated two Kittery Elementary School Arts Fairs. Leisa received a Bachelor of Science degree in Food & Nutrition Services at the University of Maine at Orono and thankfully & successfully completed her internship at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. She resides in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and is most proud of her bright, handsome, and very successful son, Anthony.
Donald “Skip” Smith is Pastor of the Berwick Methodist Church, where he has been appointed since 2012. Skip leads a team at the Rochester Fellowship Kitchen and is involved in various community activities in both Berwick and Rochester. He is a member of the Christian praise band GRASP where he plays guitar and drums as well as lending his voice. Pastor Skip attended NHTI for Business Management and currently attends Wesley Theological School. He resides in Rochester, New Hampshire.
About The Table of Plenty
The Table of Plenty provides healthy, home-cooked meals for people having difficulty putting food on their tables. The first community kitchen opened in Berwick, Maine in January 1994. In October 2001, The Table of Plenty opened its second location in York, Maine, and in January 2009 opened its third community kitchen in Kittery, Maine. In 2015, The Table of Plenty prepared and served over 12,400 home-cooked meals to more than 9,300 individuals.
